Finally! It’s October, which marks the beginning of my favourite season. Bloggers everywhere rejoice as it’s the season of PSLs, Scream Queens, Knee highs and Knitwear! That’s right, Autumn is here. There’s something about this season which makes me incredibly giddy. It’s time to wave goodbye to summer as the leaves are turning brown and Halloween’s just around the corner, so let me tell you all the things I’m looking forward to this Autumn.
Colder Weather. As much as I love summer days, I am truly at my happiest when the nights begin to draw in earlier, and there’s a crisp autumn chill in the air. As I’m typing this I’m snuggled up in bed while rain is pouring down outside. I was getting really tired of sweating my butt off every time I left the house, I can’t wait for chilly weather so I can wrap up warm in all of my favourite Autumn clothes.
HALLOWEEN. Of course I couldn’t leave this one off of the list. Halloween is definitely my second favourite holiday, slightly behind Christmas of course. Ever since I was a little girl I have always adored this season. I would beg my mum and dad every year to get down the Halloween costumes from the loft and to buy a pumpkin to carve. Honestly, nothing has changed except now I can carve as many pumpkins as I desire without parental supervision. To be honest, I low-key started decorating for Halloween mid-September, too much? I don’t care! Which brings me onto my next favourite..
PUMPKINS. Pumpkins! I love em. I love the taste, the smell, the ooey gooey-ness when you stick your hand in to remove all of that middle. They’re a great decoration but I just LOVE anything pumpkin flavoured.
Candles. Now, don’t get me wrong, I burn candles whatever time of year, but when Autumn comes I go candle crazy. I normally opt for fresh smelling candles but when the colder months come I love anything cinnamon, pumpkin or salted caramel scented. There’s nothing better than lighting a bunch of candles and settling down with a good book and a warm beverage.
Warm Drinks. As someone who doesn’t drink a traditional cuppa tea (I know, am I even British?) I live for winter months when I can enjoy all my favourite warm drinks. I am definitely a Pumpkin Spice Latte lover, it’s my favourite beverage from Starbucks. Made with soy milk and half the syrup because I’m fussy like that. I also love sitting down with a warming fruity tea, hot choc or warm apple cider.
AUTUMN FASHION. I love autumnal clothes, bundling up in coats, hats, gloves and scarves. Layering knitted jumpers or pinafores with tights, I can’t wait to put together some adorable autumnal outfits this season.
AUTUMNAL MAKEUP. As you probably have guessed by now I am obsessed with makeup, especially this time of year. I love experimenting with makeup in the autumn/winter months, as much as I love a natural summertime look you can’t beat wearing a dark brown lipstick with a burnt orange smoky eye or a berry lip with winged liner. The possibilities are endless and I can’t wait to dig out my favourite colours and experiment with different looks.
Scary Films. I am a huge love of horror films. I love it all from The Exorcist to The Conjuring to Friday the 13th. I can’t wait to have a Halloween movie night and snuggle up with a blanket and a big bowl of popcorn to watch a marathon of horror films. Of course, if horror films aren’t your thing I also love a good Disney Halloween film like Hocus Pocus or The Nightmare Before Christmas.
DISNEY AT HALLOWEEN. How could I leave this one off of my list? Though I have never visited a Disney park during Halloween (sob, sob) I think it’s one of the best times of year to visit. I love seeing Mainstreet USA decorated with pumpkins and friendly ghosts, seeing all the characters in their Halloween costumes and of course the parades, cavalcades and shows. If you haven’t seen any of these you’re seriously missing out. My favourites are definitely Le Celebration Halloween de Mickey at Disneyland Paris, Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular at Disney World and Halloween Frightfully Fun Parade at Disneyland. Not forgetting they hold Halloween parties where everyone, including adults, is allowed to dress up as their favourite Disney Character, I can’t wait to go one day!
So, there you have it! Ten of my favourite things about this glorious season. Let me know your favourite things in the comments down below! Happy Autumn everyone.
Have a magical day,
