I am a self confessed make up junkie. I love all make up and I dread to think how much I spend yearly, however recently I have been holding back on my make up purchases until I visit America later this year, as it’s far cheaper to buy make up in the states than here in the UK, so I’ve been resisting a lot of the new releases knowing I can wait a few months and get it at a much better price! However, whenever I venture into Boots or Superdrug, I just can’t resist picking up one or two things. It has been ages since I got to really look through all the lovely drug-store make up and beauty displays and fill up my basket with lovely affordable things!
My favourite part of drug store shopping is that it doesn’t come with all the anxiety and stress of high-end make up buying.. if you’re anything like I am you’ll buy a lovely designer lipstick you don’t really need, only to get it home and realise you’ve spent 2 hours of your life choosing which shade to get, you’re £25 down and realise you have either got the exact same colour already or it looks hideous on and you’ll never use it again. Drug store make up has improved in quality so much over the past few years, with fantastic dupes and collections being released each month which won’t set you back all your hard earned £££, it doesn’t matter so much if you decide a product isn’t for you. This whole haul cost me less than £20, and a lot of my make up bag staples are drug store products! What’s not to love? So, let’s take a little look at what I got.
Makeup Revolution – Amazing Lipstick in Nude
I’ve been a big fan of Makeup Revolution since the start and I have collected almost all of their eye-shadow palettes, but I have never tried their lip products until now! I decided it was time to change that and after a few swatches in the store I opted for one of their Amazing Lipsticks in the shade Nude. This is one of their Matte shades, however they have got soo many different shades and textures in this lipstick range and they are all only £1. You can’t really go wrong!
The shade is a little bit lighter than what I’m used to, it doesn’t matter so much with my pale complexion but I’m not used to such a light shade. I can see myself mixing this shade to brighten other lip colours. This product isn’t the greatest lipstick I’ve ever used buuut for £1 it’s a pretty good buy! I can see myself trying more shades from this collection.
B. Pure Micellar Water
I’m sure you’ve all heard of Micellar Water by now, soo many brands have now released their own version of this little miracle cleanser. There are some high end versions and some more affordable versions, such as this B. Pure Micellar Water, which now costs only £1.49! If you haven’t heard of this brand they’re a company owned by Superdrug, selling affordable 100% cruelty free cosmetics. B. Pure Micellar Water claims to remove all makeup and impurities without leaving skin tight and dry and is suitable for all skin types. I think this is a great size, not too big and the thin packaging design makes it easy to fit in your toiletry bag. The smell claims to be cucumber but overall it’s pretty odourless which is a great bonus for me as I am particularly picky when it comes to smelly things on my face. I have been using their Micellar wipes which are amazing and so gentle on the skin and eyes so I am really looking forward to using this Micellar Water.
Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar Blush Palette
I have been drooling over this Revolution Golden Sugar palette for ages, but it always seems to be sold out in my local Superdrug! Thankfully I manage to snatch it up finally and I am soo obsessed! These colours are so perfect for spring. It comes with highlighters, blushes and matte bronzer shades which are great for contouring!
These blushes are all baked and have such a great colour pay off. You have honestly got everything you need in this one palette, I would even use these as eyeshadows as they’re so pigmented. The icing on the cake of this lovely palette is that it only costs £6! Have I ever mentioned how much I love Makeup Revolution?!
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
So, this Lasting Perfection Concealer is my all time favourite concealer to ever exist, like, ever. It is so good! It covers my horrendous dark eye circles, never cracks or gathers around my eyes, applies and blends like a dream and all for the perfect price of £4.19! I have actually got a mini stock-pile of about 8 of these unopened, as they are often sold out of my shade (fair), and I literally never want to be without this little miracle product!
The lightest shade is perfect for me, it isn’t pink toned and is perfectly pale, however my only complaint would be that they come out with more colour options as they only have it available in 4 shades at the moment. I have tried so many concealers in my time, and even the most expensive high end ones don’t match up to this! Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer really lives up to its name and if you haven’t tried it yet, what are you waiting for?!
Duo Eyelash Adhesive
The final item in my mini haul is this Duo Eyelash Adhesive. I am a bit phobic of fake eyelashes, I love how they look on but they’re so fiddly and frustrating that I often give up half-way through, or I’ll finally get them on perfectly only to find they’re hanging off halfway through the night! I have decided to put my bad past experiences with strip lashes behind me and recently bought a set of Ardell Demi-Wispies, however I have not been able to try them out yet as I’ve had no glue! I have heard really great things about Duo Eyelash glue, they’re 100% vegan and will hopefully make my eyelash woes a thing of a past! I can’t wait to try this glue out, and hopefully it’ll keep my eyelashes put all night!
So that concludes my mini drug store haul! I hope you enjoyed this little insight to my latest makeup spree.
Are you a big fan of drug store beauty or do you tend to steer away? Have you used any of these products or maybe will try them in the future?! Let me know in the comments!
Have a magical day!
