How is it July already? I’m honestly losing track of the months they’re flying by so fast this year. June was a very busy month for me and went by way too quickly but I did manage to try some lovely new beauty products and also reintroduced myself with some items I’d forgotten about! Here’s everything beauty-wise I’ve been loving this past month.
MUA Velvet Lip Lacquer in Tranquillity
So, my friend introduced this little baby to me last month and I honestly have been using it non-stop. If you’re not aware of MUA, they are a drug store brand available in Superdrug who have super affordable make up. Before purchasing this I only owned one other MUA item which is an eyeshadow palette (which has been used and abused to high heaven). I have always wanted to try more from them and when I heard of this lippie which costs a mere £3, how could I resist? I must say this was a great decision and this has quickly become my new go-to shade. It’s a nude shade which applies as a liquid and dries matte. I’ve tried plenty of liquid lipsticks in the past and this one definitely has the most staying power. If I didn’t wash it off, this lipstick would probably stay on forever. I absolutely love a matte lip and will rarely wear any other finish, and I feel like you can’t go wrong with a nude. They have plenty of shades in their range if a nude isn’t for you.
The Balm Mary Lou Manizer
Who doesn’t love a good highlighter? I feel like highlighters have become everyone’s makeup staple these past few months and I am no exception! I just love to drench myself in shine and blind people with my highlight. I actually bought this highlighter quite a while back and loved it, it then got shoved to the back of my makeup draw and I forgot about it completely! This month I have reignighted my love for Mary Lou Manizer. I love everything about this highlighter, from the quirky packaging to the texture to the finish. No matter how much of this product you apply, it won’t begin to look muddy or too much which some highlighters and blushers do. It works well on the cheekbones, nose, lips, eyes, pretty much anywhere to create your own light points and bring out your best features on your face. I could even go as far to say this is my favourite highlighter at the moment and for only £17.50 it is really affordable and will last and last.
Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint in Laguna
So, this is a bit of a random one. I own around 500 nail varnishes (no exaggeration!) and I tend to not buy them any more as I pretty much have every colour under the sun. However, I recently went to Paris and whilst at the airport I realised my nails were bare and I had forgotten to bring a colour with me (doh!). I decided going to Disneyland with bare nails simply wouldn’t do, so I headed to Boots in Gatwick in an attempt to find a nice colour! I went for a BarryM shade as they are completely cruelty free and all the other brands available sadly weren’t. I was immediately drawn to this blue, it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland’s dress and I thought it was the perfect dreamy colour to paint my nails with! I already own pale blue nail polishes, but this one has a certain pop to it that I love. I don’t own many BarryM nail polishes and I have no idea why because I love this formula! I think Coconut Infusion is a new nail polish range for BarryM and I will definitely be buying more, it lasted with no base or top coat for the whole holiday and I know this colour will get plenty of use throughout summer!
Becca Luminous Body Perfecting Mousse in Palm Beach
Fellow pale girls everywhere rejoice, I have found your new miracle tanning product. If you’re anything like me you’ll hate fake tan, the smell, the effort of exfoliating and applying then staining your bed sheets, the whole experience is so time consuming and more often than not ends up patchy or you’ll miss a spot by your elbow and have to scrub it all off. The Luminous Body Perfecting Mousse is a liquid-mousse formula which blends in effortlessly. It adds a subtle bronze glow which looks like you’ve been naturally sun-kissed, not tangoed! It’s transfer resistant and water resistant so it lasts all day and night but easily washes off in the shower, so you don’t have to worry about scrubbing! I honestly don’t know how I lived without this product, it’s so easy and quick to get a gorgeous summer glow while covering up any imperfections! I feel so much more confident getting my pale legs out this summer!
Philip Kingsley Elderflower & Rhubarb Elasticizer
I have been a big fan of Philip Kingsley Elasticizer for years, having long hair which tangles as fast as I can brush it, I need something which is going to keep it healthy and under control! I got this Elderflower & Rhubarb Elasticizer in a goody bag and can’t wait to order the full size! It smells sooo delicious, I could eat it! I’m obsessed with both elderflower and rhubarb and together they work so well. If you’re not sure what Elasticizer is, it’s a pre-shampoo treatment which gives your hair extra elasticity and manageability, with added bounce and shine! It’s recommended you apply to damp hair and leave 10-20 minutes but I like to leave it anywhere from an hour to overnight to get the full benefit. I then rinse it out and continue with my usual shampoo/conditioner routine!
So that concludes my June beauty faves! It was a fab month and perfect start to the summer, and I can’t wait to see what I’ll be loving this July!
